This study titled “Research and development of a health promotion program for the elderly in Kanchanaburi” aimed to demonstrate a health promotion model for the elderly in areas of Chalae and Nasuan sub-districts. The study was undertaken after action research in Ulong and Huaykayeng sub-districts was used to develop a model of health promotion for elderly. The model is based on the demonstrated needs of the elderly. The second phase of the project was undertaken from April 2004 through September 2005 while the evaluation was undertaken for two years and completed in 2007.
Method of the study
In order to achieve the project objective and ultimate goal, this study consists of six steps as follows:
Step 1: Locating study areas
Step 2: Determining health problems and need of the elderly
Step 3: Supporting activities developed based on the original project implemented in
Ulong and Huaykayeng sub-districts.
Step 4: Generating support and motivation among the elderly, public health officers and
researchers from the cooperative activities to be undertaken over 12 months
Step 5: Implementing activities
Step 6: Monitoring and evaluation
